Improving High Quality Teaching: Lesson Observation Tips for SENDCOs

About this event

There is clear criteria Ofsted look for in SEND provision, including ensuring all students having access to the full curriculum with thorough and impactful planning and assessment and a clear strategy for teaching reading.

To do this, a SENDCO must stay informed about classroom activities to ensure students receive the high-quality teaching they deserve. Identifying weaker areas is crucial and enables the SENDCO to provide vital support to teachers.

However, balancing this responsibility without overwhelming staff can be tricky. It’s important the process is collaborative, with staff feeling open, able to change and supported throughout.

During the session we will be covering the following:

          • What are Ofsted looking for when they observe teachers?
          • How you can link your observations into other school priorities
          • Best practice tips for ensuring your feedback motivates your teams
          • Different models of observation and how you can use them to the best effect
