    DP in The Workplace: Biometrics and Consent
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What is biometric data - The benefits of using biometric data - When to use biometrics and when to obtain consent - The security required for biometric data - Individual rights in relation to biometric data - How the data protection act applies to biometric data (including conducting impact assessments).

    DP Principles and Fair Processing Conditions
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What the data protection principles are - What is meant by accountability under the new data protection regulations - How to apply the data protection principles in practice - What the fair processing conditions are - The difference between fair processing conditions for personal data and sensitive personal data - How the fair processing conditions apply in schools
    FoI: Publication of Information
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: To understand the legal position under the Freedom of Information Act including what a publication scheme is - To understand what information needs to be published in accordance with the Act - Finally to understand what information is exempt from being published.
    Freedom of Information Requests
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: The legal position under the Freedom of Information Act - What a Freedom of Information request is and what is required for a valid request (including time limits for complying) - What exemptions there are to a freedom of information request - How to respond to a freedom of information request - The differences between a freedom of information request and a subject access request.
    Individual Rights
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: To learn about what rights individuals have under data protection laws - To learn in detail each of the individual rights - To look at examples of how those individual rights would apply in the school workplace - Finally to learn how to deal with and respond to any request by an individual to exercise their individual rights.

    Introduction to SAR and FoI Requests
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What a subject access request and a freedom of information request is and what is required by law for those requests to be valid - To understand the difference between the two requests and who can make a request - Recognising which request is which and who to pass it to within the school.

    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: Understand what a subject access request is and what is required by law to make such a request valid - The difference between this request and a freedom of information request - What exemptions are there to subject access requests - What to do when dealing with third party data - Dealing with requests from parents - How to respond to the request with these points in mind.
    Third Parties and Data Sharing
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What is meant by a third party and data sharing - What is required to share data with third parties - What measures need to be put in place (such as security measures) to enable safe sharing of data - What agreements can be put in place with third parties.
    What is a Breach
    The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: The legal requirement to report breaches under data protection laws - What is meant by a breach, risk and high risk - To look at examples within a school of matters that may need to be reported to the ICO - The risks to schools in breaches and the importance of understanding how a breach occurred.
